Three screens from HR. Every open role shows its age and its candidates. The pipeline counts people at each stage. And an offer waiting on an approval stays on the screen.

Free, or paid
If you searched for free payroll software in India, the honest answer has two halves.
The full price list, edition by edition, is on the pricing page.
The part that has to be right
These are pay components like any other. Set up once, applied by rule every month, and shown on the payslip rather than worked out beside it in a spreadsheet.
UAN and PF number on the employee. Employee and employer share as a percentage or a fixed amount, whichever the arrangement is.
Cover flag and ESI number on the employee, alongside the labour welfare fund they contribute to. Professional tax is its own deduction, like the rest.
Gratuity keeps the employee share, the employer share and the final settlement apart. TDS is a rule, not a monthly calculation, and the record carries which tax regime the employee chose.
What is in it
Nobody switches all of it on at once. Most start with payroll, attendance and leave, then add the rest. It is all in the same system either way, so adding a part is a setting rather than another product.
The formula engine is the one worth naming. Indian pay structures are rarely the same twice — allowances that depend on grade, city and shift, dearness allowance, leave encashment, arrears that reach backwards, ceilings that apply to some people and not others. It is built to be set up rather than coded.
For teams that are not in the building
A biometric reader at the gate does nothing for a developer in another city. Onfinity has its own time tracker for that: an app on the laptop that records working time and syncs approved hours straight into attendance.
Keystroke and mouse counts, not what was typed. Full keylogging was considered and rejected. Screenshots are periodic and the employee is told they are being taken.
Idle stretches are capped rather than counted, so a machine left on overnight does not turn into hours. A manager approves completed days before anything syncs.
Approved hours post into the same attendance record as the biometric punch at the factory gate. Payroll reads one source, not two.
It works offline and uploads when the connection comes back, which matters more in practice than any of the above. A fuller page on the tracker is coming.
Already have an HR system
Neither processes payroll in India. Onfinity takes the worker and leave data from the system you already run, does the Indian part, and posts the journal back to your finance system.
How that integration worksA month of payslips and the components behind them is enough to see the same run come out of Onfinity, with the deductions where you expect them.
